The short version
- Your villages, nicknames and settings are stored only on your phone.
- Your player tag is sent to our server to look up your public in-game name and clan. We don't log it or store it.
- BuilderBell never asks for your Supercell ID, email or password, and has no account to sign up for.
- The app shows a banner ad from Google AdMob. Google may use your device's advertising ID to show and measure ads.
- No analytics, no tracking of what you do in the app, and nothing sold to anyone.
This policy covers the BuilderBell Android app and this website (builderbell.softquilllabs.com), made by SoftQuill Labs ("we"). If you have a question about it, email contact@softquilllabs.com.
What stays on your phone
To add a village, you copy its Data Export in Clash of Clans and open BuilderBell. That text lists your village's building, troop and hero levels and the timers that are running. BuilderBell stores it on your phone, together with:
- the nicknames you give villages, and your Gold Pass boosts;
- your alert settings and a list of recent alerts;
- the public name, clan and Town Hall level we looked up for each village (see below).
None of this is sent to us, apart from the player tag described below. If you have Android's backup to your Google account turned on, Android may include it in that backup; that backup is handled by Google, not by us. If you save a BuilderBell backup file or a share image, it goes only where you choose to put it.
Your clipboard
When you open BuilderBell, it checks your clipboard for a village export, so you don't have to paste it. Anything on the clipboard that isn't a Clash of Clans export is ignored: it isn't stored or sent anywhere. Android may show a small "pasted from your clipboard" notice when this happens.
What goes to our server
Your player tag
Each village's export includes its player tag (like #2ABC123). BuilderBell sends the tag to our server so it can show the village's in-game name and clan instead of just "Town Hall 18". It does this when you add a village, about every 12 hours when you open the app, and when you pull to refresh.
Our server asks Supercell's official Clash of Clans API for that tag's public profile (the same details anyone can see in the game) and sends back the name, clan, Town Hall and hero levels. To reach Supercell's API, the request passes through a proxy run by RoyaleAPI, a third-party service.
- We don't log or store tags. A reply may be cached by our host for up to 5 minutes, so repeated refreshes don't reach Supercell each time.
- The request carries no name, email or other information about you, other than what every internet request carries (your IP address).
Game data updates
About every 6 hours the app checks our server for new game data (upgrade costs and times) and current events. These downloads send nothing about you.
Our host
Our server and this website run on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles your IP address to deliver requests and to protect the service from abuse (for example, by limiting how many requests one address can make). We don't keep request logs. This website uses no cookies and no analytics.
Ads
BuilderBell is free and shows a small banner ad on some screens, supplied by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, and to prevent ad fraud, Google may collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address, general device information and how you interact with ads. Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before any ad loads, using Google's consent form. You can change your choice any time in BuilderBell: Settings → Ad privacy choices.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (Settings → Google → Ads on most phones).
There are no pop-up (full-screen) ads, and the app has no paid features.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Notifications | To alert you when a builder, the lab or the pet house is free. Asked only once you have a timer running. |
| Alarms & reminders | So alerts arrive on the minute. Optional: without it alerts can come a few minutes late. |
| Run at startup | To set your alerts again after the phone restarts. |
| Internet | For player names, game data updates and ads. |
BuilderBell doesn't use your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files, and doesn't read other apps. The only other app it looks for is Clash of Clans, so its "Open Clash of Clans" button can open the game.
What we don't do
- We don't ask for or touch your Supercell ID, and we can't access your game account.
- We don't use analytics or crash-reporting tools.
- We don't sell or share your information with anyone for their own use.
Children
BuilderBell isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. The app has no accounts, chat or sign-up of any kind.
Deleting your data
Because your villages are on your phone, you're in control: remove a village from its menu (⋮ → Remove village), or uninstall the app to delete everything. We hold nothing on our server to delete. If you have a question about your data, email us.
Changes
If we change what the app collects (for example, if we add crash reports or optional tips), we'll update this page first and change the date at the top.
